We came together to form a community that draws its inspiration from the Jewish spiritual tradition and grapples with the most pressing social issues in Israel today. We were pained by economic and social gaps, alienation, polarization, and the weakening of social bonds.<br \/>Today, over 400 of us work together with the residents in these communities, where we live,\u00a0 to rebuild these bonds, bridge these gaps.<\/span><\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4171 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/reut.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/About2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"492\" height=\"328\" \/>\u00a0 \u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3302 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/reut.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/About6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reut.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/About6.jpg 624w, https:\/\/reut.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/About6-400x224.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We established the Kvutzat Reut organization in 1993 in order to fulfill this vision. We created a model in which the organization and the community work in tandem to strengthen communities and build shared language in a way that sets off a ripple effect through Jerusalem and nationwide.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The driving force behind our work is a deep sense of shared Jewish goals that draws its source from the Zionist pioneering movement and from the Chassidic movement and adapts them to the contemporary Israeli reality, through the view that learning leads to action\u2014\u201ctalmud hamavi l\u2019yedei maaseh.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #41160c;\">We work together with organizations, government bodies, families, and individuals in Jerusalem and throughout Israel to achieve this purpose.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><p><span style=\"color: #41160c;\"><b><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3304 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/reut.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/About5-e1648646641718.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"350\" \/><\/b><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #41160c;\"><strong>Kvutzat Reut operates within two interconnected spheres of activity:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Cultivating leadership<\/strong>: through Mechinat Beit Yisrael, student villages, programs for young people, and intentional communities [link to each] across Israel.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Community growth<\/strong>: narrowing gaps through formal and informal education. Beit Yisrael runs a wide range of programs for children, youth, and the elderly as well as operating preschools and an elementary school. We work with local communities to develop nature sites as community spaces. And we work hand-in-hand with neighborhood residents to build strong community bonds. <\/span><\/li><\/ul><hr \/><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe came together here after 2000 years of exile, after the Shoah and the establishment of the State of Israel. Through us, the visions of the Prophets were fulfilled. The hopes and yearnings of our ancestors, and the pioneering actions of every generation. And we therefore have a great responsibility upon our shoulders to build a society, a country, that is worthy of our hopes and the hopes of our ancestors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alongside the physical ingathering of the exiles, we must work towards a spiritual and cultural ingathering of exiles. We must strengthen social bonds in our Land. Instead of the \u201creligious\u201d sector\u201d or the \u201csecular sector,\u201d of Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrachi\u2026 we simply view it all as the Jewish sector. Aviva has extensive experience in developing strategic partnerships across the nonprofit, philanthropic, and municipal sectors. She lives in Kibbutz Shamir in the upper Galilee, is married to Guy, and has three children.<\/p><p><strong>Beit Yisrael, for me, is a place of hope \u2014 a place one turns to when in need of renewed energy and meaning. A constant reminder of the responsibility we carry to build a society, a people, and a country. She currently serves as Vice President for Education and Welfare Programs at <em>Shalva<\/em>, where she leads a wide network of staff, volunteers, and national service participants in complex therapeutic and educational processes. Liat holds a Master\u2019s degree in Clinical Social Work.<\/p><p>Liat specializes in guiding professional teams, facilitating group processes, and managing educational and therapeutic frameworks for children with disabilities and their families. Her work is rooted in a sensitive and systemic understanding of emotional and community needs.<\/p><p><strong>Beit Yisrael, for me, is a home of connection, community, and open hearts \u2014 a space where trainees, families, and staff can weave a diverse communal tapestry. He is a Lt. Colonel (Res.) and Commander of the Mobility Unit in Division 99 \u2014 a unit he established following the Second Lebanon War. Under his leadership, the unit was awarded a Chief of Staff commendation for operational innovation during the 2023 Iron Swords War.<\/p><p>Ofer has extensive experience in community development, strategic planning, and both civilian and military entrepreneurship. He is a researcher, lecturer, publicist and activist in the fields of philanthropic giving, the non-profit sector, and\u00a0restitution\u00a0of Jewish property. He is a former senior director in the civil service, senior adviser for the restitution of Jewish property in the Prime Minister&#8217;s Office and\u00a0director of non-profit fundraising abroad. He is a Fulbright Fellow and holds a Ph.D. in History, a MA in Public Administration and Public Policy, and a BA in Economics. He specializes in taxes and accounting. <\/span><\/p><p><strong>\u201cFor me, Beit Yisrael is Israel at its most beautiful: value-based, humane, setting a personal example, optimistic, and committed to social renewal in Israel. He is an expert in valuations, capital raising and investment banking in the fields of real estate, industry, energy, and infrastructure.<\/span><\/p><p><strong>\u201cBeit Israel contributes to building and strengthening important foundational principles in Israeli society. She serves as academic coordinator of the &#8220;Idea&#8221; program for gifted students in the humanities and social sciences, and teaches policy analysis in the \u201cJussur\u201d cadet program for Bedouin leaders for the local government. She previously served as adviser of the Chief Reserve Officer for government relations.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p><b>&#8220;<\/b><strong>Beit Yisrael is my inspiration and spirit that gives me wings. <\/strong><b>It is the internal reminder to live a life with purpose and to act for everyone\u2019s benefit. From a young age, he stood out for his strength of character, deep sensitivity to others, curiosity, creativity, initiative, sense of responsibility, and natural leadership.<\/p><p>After attending various educational frameworks, he found his place at the Regavim Yeshiva in the Golan, where he immersed himself in Torah study, working the land, and deepening his connection to Eretz Yisrael. He also served as a madrich (mentor) for younger students and became a significant role model to them.<\/p><p>For Yosef, education was a true calling \u2013 a way to influence and spread goodness in the world.<\/p><p>After graduating, he chose to return to the place closest to his heart \u2013 a student in Mechina Beit Yisrael, cohort 27 \u2013 the place he grew up in and looked up to all his life. In one of his journals he wrote:<br \/><strong>\u201cI am continuing the journey my parents began.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><p>His friends in the mechina describe him as a true friend \u2013 one who listened, uplifted, and became a pillar of strength and faith during difficult times. He had a unique ability to inspire others and rally people around a shared vision and sense of purpose.<\/p><p>Yosef enlisted in Unit 504 of the Intelligence Corps, preparing with deep dedication for meaningful service. During his training he was known for his character, courage, friendships, and ambitious goals. He believed in striving for greatness and doing good \u2013 never at someone else\u2019s expense, but through partnership, connection, and the belief that the goal is shared.<\/p><p>Throughout the years, Yosef filled notebooks and journals. His roommates recall how, after everyone had gone to sleep, Yosef would quietly turn on a small light and begin to write. He lived life fully, treating each day as meaningful and refusing to waste a moment. In one of his notebooks he wrote:<br \/><strong>\u201cIf something doesn\u2019t move me forward, it pulls me back. I need to understand what propels me \u2013 and follow that. He was a camper and counselor in Bnei Akiva, and chose to work with special-needs youth \u2013 a role he undertook with a deep sense of mission. He participated in the Bronfman Fellowship, and was filled with love for people and for the Land of Israel \u2013 values passed down from his family, who made aliyah from Ethiopia.<\/p><p>Before his army service, Oriya studied for a year in Mechina Hannaton \u2013 a year that shaped him deeply, revealed his leadership potential, and strengthened his connection to Am Yisrael. Upon completion, he enlisted in Givati\u2019s elite reconnaissance unit, where he became a beloved and respected soldier.<\/p><p>Oriya fell in battle in Khan Younis on January 17, 2024, at the age of 21.<br \/>He is survived by his parents, a brother, and a sister. Just as Maayan always did \u2013 not only through the scope.<\/p><p>Maayan was a quiet and thoughtful soul \u2013 one of those you discover gradually, and the more you discover, the more you fall in love. A person of thought, of books, of questions. He loved to read \u2013 mostly in English, mostly philosophy. He loved to truly listen \u2013 not out of politeness, but out of deep curiosity. He had a rare quality: humble wisdom \u2013 not only in his head, but in his heart.<\/p><p>He loved good music \u2013 Bob Dylan, Radiohead, The Beatles; he loved film and examined them like a creator \u2013 analyzing characters, dialogue, and sound.
